I did that with all my trim and also threw a clear coat on them. Been almost a year through a harsh winter and still look perfect.

Default Has anyone tried this?

I have heard this stuff from Griots Garage works really well, but have not tried it. Still debating, since the trim on my FX4 is grey.... Anyone else used it? how'd it work?

Agreed. Get the FUSION paint, specifically for plastics. No prep needed. Yes, no prepping, no sanding, no priming, just tape off what you dont want painted and spray. I did my Wiper cowl, Plastic on the Steps, and the Rear bumper Plastic. Everyone kept asking if I bought new steps or bumper pad, and its been over a yr w/out me even adding another coat.

Just remember this about Griots........... almost everything they sell, is made by somebody else and repackaged at a much higher price. Especially, their waxes, polishes, etc. Griots is a ripoff.

I tried the back-to-black and didn't have much of a change. I think my trim and bed rails are just too far gone. Any suggestions? I'm in college right now and my truck has to sit outside in the Florida sun all day and it sucks.

If its to far gone for the back to black to work then I would suggest painting method mentioned in the above threads.

I use
ArmorAll Tire Protectant Gel ArmorAll Tire Protectant Gel
. I usually have to apply it once a month or so. My 07 FX4 is also exposed to the Florida sun, so I try to keep the black/grey plastics as protected as possible. The Armor All does leave a slight slippery feel, but definitely not greasy or sticky. Obviously, I use this for my tires, and its the best product that I have used for tires.

I like the idea of painting it with the Krylon Fusion and then using a clear-coat. If it starts fading too much, I will try this.

I painted the bed caps and rear window surround on my 97'. Those that have ever had a 97 know how bad the surround is about turning almost white. I wiped everything down with paint thinner and then sprayed with Krylon Fusion Gloss Black (Satin and Flat black were not available at the time). This was in 2003 and when I wrecked the truck, the caps still looked as good as the day I painted them.
