Never had an issue regarding temp. but I did have trouble after moving across country. You may try manually calibrating your compass by following instructions in your owners manual. Not sure what year/model you drive, but mine involved resetting the compass into CAL mode and driving in circles on a flat surface a couple times. Find a place far away from any overhead power lines.

I had problems with mine in my Mark VIII, but it all started after I installed a subwoofer right below the transmitter in the trunk.

My 2008 did that. The dealer first reprogrammed it to a different geographic zone (which tells me that it is somehow dependent on the geo zone you are in). When that didn't work, they replaced the mirror which has the compass sensor in it. That worked and I have not had the problem since.
