$1100 for all of that sounds pretty good to me, I've read ppl on here saying cam phasers alone being a 2k job. Did you follow the sticky "Final repair guide to fixing 5.4 tick/knock sound"? If so, is this something a novice such as myself should attempt?

I had that start-up noise, too. was the exhaust manifolds. Local shop swapped one out for $600, but they kept the gasket and studs for the driver's side... ugh. If you look around a little more, you'll find a shop that's done these a bit, shouldn't take them more than a few hours. Don't do it yourself unless you have the tools to remove broken and stuck studs.

I went with a bunch of parts from Freedom Racing, their CNC phasers, Cloyes timing set, and roller followers. I think my lash adjusters were eBay knock-offs (fingers crossed), possibly made in Chicago. who TF knows. Motorcraft solenoids, Melling oil pump. Got the gaskets and crank pulley bolt at the dealer when I was getting solenoids. Look me up if you need tools, I have the cam holder tool, and the valve spring compressor. Hope to never need them again.
