Default Cold Air Intakes?

Are they worth it on these 5.4's. The was some speculation that they were pointless on the V-10 (previous vehicle motor) is it the same for these?

Thanks,

Trevor

Worthless unless you like more noise.....our trucks draw air from the fender so you already have a cold air intake. Do the GOTTS mod and use a quality air filter like AEM or WIX.

What Summers22 said. Save the money and spend it on something else that will improve performance, rather then look cool under the hood. Cool items are just that, but those who know realize you just fell into the sucker mode.

Good to know guys. Thanks. I made that mistake with my Excursion. I'll look into that Gotts mod and by some other cool stuff.

We are just talking about CAIs if you were interested in seeing numbers or asking questions

Call up the companies and ask them directly. I found that most intakes are the stock pipe size and don't flow much more air than stock and get the small gain from the cone filter. I ended up ordering an intake that actually has a larger pipe and MAF housing. This does require a tune so your computer can account for the larger air volume flowing through the MAF and not run lean.

The GOTTS mod does open up the the front restricted part of the pipe to the size of the rest of the pipe. The factory intake is also the only one that truly sucks in cooler air because it gets it from the fender well. GOTTS mod is also the cheapest.
