Default coil pack questions

Ok my 04f150 w/5.4 started missing pretty badly the other day and i pulled the codes to find that it had cylinder 6 misfire so i replaced the coil drove it and and it ran great but still had a little miss to it... it then thru a cylinder 6 misfire again! After being ticked off i let it sit all night. I woke up the next day to find no check engine light on! There is still a little bog to it but there is no longer a miss!
My question is does the computer have to program the coil pack to run the engine sufficiently?
I know my plugs need to be changed and im going to work on that next weekend, but main question is about a coil pack

There is no "programming" of a COP (coil on plug). It's an ignition part, and receives voltage and sends it to the plug. Since replaced the COP, and the misfire is still present on that same cylinder it's most likely the plug. Better start running some PEA cleaner and have all the necessary tools for a plug change.

Thanks it was just kinda weird because now the miss is almost gone. I know plugs need to be changed the truck is driven maybe 20 miles a week just was wondering if it was like sensors but thanks for clearing that up for me. All these new trucks confuse me sometimes lol
