Question Climate control temp is hot

I have a 2006 F-150 and the heat is hot even when I turn the temp down to the low 70's? If i put it on Auto, the fan never speeds up and the temp out of the vent never goes lower and bakes you out of the truck.

I'm I missing something? The few GM's I've driven, the "Auto" mode really takes over and both fan and temp adjust automatically. This thing doesn't do much. I will get some cooler air if the temp is turned down to the high 60's.

I'm wondering if the HVAC head unit is faulty or something else? I've been searching the forum, but haven't seen this issue.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

This may not be to helpful but I currently have a 07 fx4 and use to have a 06 xlt the both have manual temp controls and on both the heat would either blow hot as ***** or cold nothing in between and come to find out the blend door actuator was bad a common problem ford even updated the part but you could have something else going on.

Is that the door behind the glove box and radio? Thanks for the tip.

Yes. There is a small actuator it has 3 screws and you can access it if you flip the glove box down out of the way by pushing in the sides of the glove box.

Don't know how to troubleshoot it as I"m not sure how Auto actually works. But "normal" for my auto setting is that it cranks the fan and AC/heat to max (or nearly) at first. Once it gets near the temp you've selected, the fan drops back to low speed or even off and the air temperature is blended. Sounds like the way it worked in your GM.

I have found that I don't agree with the system all the time. I may have to set the temp to 80 to get hot air, or 65 to get icy cold air. I've also had the fan shut off completely when the temp setting is the same as the outside temp. Seems like it's trying to guess the inside temp from looking at the outside temp vs. the setting, but I really don't know.
