Clicking noise

Hmm...Bank 1 sure is a bit noisier than Bank 2. I suppose whats confusing is the noise you said was occurring under the engine also.
If it was just the top end then it might be injectors or VCT. Injectors can be noisy...I noticed mine were a bit loud the other day (only if you have the bonnet up) and when I switched to LPG the noise went away (ECU turns off the petrol injectors and turns on the LPG ones).
Maybe you have a noisy injector....hahaha....there you go..just another possible culprit sorry!

If the injectors were staring to go, would there be any other signs? But then again, wouldnt they be making that noise all the time? I know the injectors are little noisy but not like the chains falling noise. Could it be the TBS? Changing the air/fuel parameters to much(before the pcm catches up) that its causing knock on start and light acceleration? Just a shot in the dark i suppose. Thanks again Daz

Your injectors should sound about as loud as an electric sewing machine honestly. If they were starting to go they wouldn't necessarily sound louder just stick open or closed and cause a rough running engine.

Thats pretty much how the injectors sounds. Daz73, i assume you have an Ids/vcm scanner? If so, where did you get ahold of one? I dont know if i trust the ones off ebay (unless they work alright). For the noise, after christmas im just going to replace the Vct solenoids unless something changes.

I just use the Torque Pro App to scan my ECU. It reads 90% of what you want. I'm looking for a SCT as I need to fix up the VID Block Error. (previous owner had a tune put in that caused the VID Block to become corrupt).
One day I'll fix that....
Good luck with the VCT solenoids, look forward to seeing if it resolves the issue.
Have a great Christmas,

Throws a code (P1639) and MIL light on dash...although the dodgy dealer or someone before him blocked out the light so it doesn't come up at all!. I've done lots to the vehicle to get it up to where it is working great (Plugs/Hubs/LPG install issues) but lucky I enjoy the challenge!
It runs like a champion, so I'm very happy with it, just a few little issues to work through.

I see you are up in canada
The worst sludge engines seem to come from the high north cold country. The range of heat on the engine goes from 200 deg f to near zero at night . Add short trips and too long between oil changes and it gets condensation in oil and looks like choc frosting . Oil cap usually shows a white build up .
I say this to help realize potential of jammed vcts etc . During winter I would think a lower oil maybe called for and run a quart of marvel m oil all the time .It is a good slow cleaner .
But when it gets really bad a cleaning job during timing job is an intense thing .
An engine flush should only be done immediately before tearing down as all hell will break loose . Looking under driver side valve cover is a good first step. Dropping the oil pan a good next step .

Ha yes, Southwestern Ontario.Mise as well been way up north this winter with the cold we’ve had haha .I was able to change the vct solenoids the other day and i removed the TBS. I havent heard the noise yet, maybe to early to tell. The timming still jumps over 40 degrees. Could it be the 5w-30 causing to much oil pressure on the vct and cam phasers or the e3 plugs messing with the computer?
