SOO I have a 2004 f150 4.6 v8...i got the code p0442 so first thing I did was buy a new fuel cap and I need to pass emissions...I dissconected the neg battery...will that reset the computer...and also if so how long would it take for the computer to reset? it turned off the CEL and ive been driving for 50 miles and no CEL...does this method work on these trucks?

 

Yes it does.....and if you have drove for 50 u should be good you can go to auto zone or most auto parts stores and they will hook up a scanner for free to check it for you.

ANYWAYS lol ive driven 60 miles since then and yeah I will go see if I pull any codes at my local auto parts store! I just wasnt sure because I know that will reset the memory on older cars but wasnt sure if it did on the newer obdII models.
