Cleaning Throttle Body????
Ok I know it says not to clean our throtle bodys but I'm thinking about trying. I bought my truck in july 2009 with 138000 miles on it and it now has 152. I can't seem to get it running as good and smooth as I would like and I plan to check the throtle body next. And I have tomorow off so I plan on takin in air box off and inspecting it. If its dirty I was thinkin about takin carb cleaner and a tooth brush and cleaning it. Has anybody cleaned theirs before and how did it turn out? Its a 2004 5.4

Ford throttle bodies (at least on a '93) have a warning label to not clean the throttle body because you can remove the teflon coating and the plates (butterflies) will not seal properly. Use TB cleaner and a rag on your finger.

DO NOT TO USE ANYTHING BUT THROTTLE BODY CLEANER.
On these newer Fords, there is a coating on the inside of the throttle body. Carb cleaners, oven cleaners, and others can remove this finish.
