Default Cleaning The Engine (?)

I bought my first truck couple of weeks ago; 2004 F-150, Ext Cab, 5.4L, Lariat, 88K miles - Well maintained and cared for; very clean, except for the engine, very dusty. Is there a way to clean the engine without using water? Thanks.

I basically just wipe down as much as I can with a wet rag. I've been doing that since I bought my '06 new. My engine and compartment still look excellent. I recently bought a 98 Explorer and the engine was pretty dirty. I went at it the same way I always do and after a few times, it was looking pretty darn good. If the engine bay is really a mess, then I'd break down and get some degreaser and then hose it off being careful not to spray obvious electronic components with water. Good luck.

Get a brush and a air compressor and blow all the dust and dirt off. Then clean it up with a damp cloth, and go over it with armor all. If you do it right she'll look brand new.
