Looking to change my 2004 Super Cew Lariat cigar lighter outlet which has stopped working to a USB charger outlet. The OSBII port is still powered so the fuse isn’t blown, cigar outlet stopped several months ago. I have seen all the threads here and also find tons available online to order. I’ve already added a Panasonic DVD unit and put an input USB for that audio in the center of the panel where cigar lighter and Parking Asssit button is so I know how to remove surround and get access to behind cigar lighter outlet. I want to get one that does NOT have the led lighting or voltage readout. Really just want 2 of the usb outlets in a unit that can mount in place of the cigar lighter. The ones with LED or lighting would be constantly on and I’m just after a plain one. Anyone know where to find a dual outlet charger without lights? Or does someone have feedback that the LED constantly on won’t drain my battery? I sometimes go 4 days or longer without driving the truck so don’t want the drain. Thanks
I"m pretty sure it's required by some democrat law that all mobile electronic powering devices have the brightest LED lights available at the time of manufacture
because bright LEDs aren't distracting at all when driving in the dark

You can find the unlit dual usb on Amazon. You can also use small spade connectors to plug in the the factory harness instead of splicing or cutting the connector. Be sure to wrap the wires and spade connectors with electrical tape, so you don't ground the connections on the metal behind the dash. I have no battery drain issues, and I leave my truck parked for 3 to 5 days.
Screwed05, I had sometime today and was going to swap the cigar outlet for the USB one I bought. Your photo was great and actually helped me plan to how to tap into factory connection. But try as I might I cannot figure out how to remove the factory cigar lighter outlet itself. How do I get that sucker removed? Funny thing is after I unplugged and was looking at the cigar lighter outlet still mounted in the trim piece it had green corrosion in the center. So I used a shotgun cleaning brass brush and gave a good scrubbing. I buttoned it all back up and the cigar lighter outlet works again but I still want to replace with my dual USB.
looks like you also installed a USB connection to DVD head unit in the middle of that trim piece like I did.

Yes the cigar lighter is tricky. If I remember correctly. The socket is 2 pieces. You have a barrel and a collar. The collar is what's holding it in the plastic trim. With tiny screw drivers or dental picks manipulate the the plastic clips that hold the barrel to the collar. Then the collar will slide out when pushing the same clips in.
It can be wrestled out but, safer to take it apart. Once it's out you will need a dremel or reamer tool to remove the tabs that keep the cigar lighter from spinning.
