Chipped key troubles
I have a 2008 F-150, I couldnt find my keys the other day so had to grab my spare set, wife had my normal set in her purse, go figure, the key turns forward and and engages all the usual stuff, cluster, radio, Air, etc, but woùldnt turn over the starter. Ive been having a few issues with my remote starter lately so I started poking around a bit with no luck. When my wife finally got home I grabed my usual set of keys and they work fine. So clearly theres an issue with the chipped key, even though it worked fine a month ago when I last used it and it sits on the shelf in the mean time so couldnt have got damaged. I did a search on here and found a few similar posts that mention a module in the truck that could have went bad. So before I take it to the dealership because its a little over my head, is it likely the chip in the key thats damaged? Or could it be the module recognizing the one key but not the other? I just like to be informed before going to my local dealership as they have a less than stellar reputation for honesty.
