Default Chip/Tuner MPG??

Okay so 04' F150, 6" Lift, 35's, 3.73's, 5.4, wouldn't mind a nice tuner just for the horsepower gains but can I get better than 10mpg? I know I really need 4.56 gears, don't have the cash for that right now. Any input? Other than the fuel mileage with a few mods I've done lately I love this truck. Had it about 2 years now

If you go the route of 4:56 gears, you're mileage will drop further then the 10 MPH you're getting now; higher RPM with the higher number gears equals lower MPG. The 35's size and weight are the main culprit, followed by the rear differential gears you've had to swap out to turn them properly.

Get rid of the speed brake on top of your truck...

If you get a tuner thinking it'll help your MPG, you're gonna have a bad day... it might gain you a few mpg but it'll take a long time for that $400 plus a tune to put you in the positive

I have the same set up as you have except i am running 4.56 gears front and rear with auto lockers. The 4.56 gearing does help (with a programmer to rest you trans shift points) as long as you stay under 55-60 anything over that and it goes down hill fast. i get 12-13 out of mine in-town but at highway speeds 65-70 it drops off in the 10 range. This biggest part is re-gearing as you are not having to floor it all the time to get moving hence the increase in mileage and performance, but dont expect in major gains no matter what you do as you are driving a lifted truck with monster tire weights.

Yeah I hear you, maybe 4.10's is what I really need. Right now I don't even use overdrive because it barely can pull it. So I leave it off and drive 55-60 which is about 2000-2200 rpm. Thanks for the input

I'm sure it doesn't help but my fuel mileage didn't drop when I put it up there. I don't drive over 60 typically

Even if I gain 1 mpg that will pay for itself eventually. Truck has 124,000 on it. I'm sure another 100,000 miles that would pay for itself and then some.

Thanks for the reply. I don't drive over 60 anyway. I would be stoked with 12-13. I'll buy it and see what happens. Thanks for the reply

I'll bet if you remove that 70 LB. tire from your roof you will gain a MPG
