Default Check valve question

I am currently trying to diagnose my 'grinding' noise coming from my left wheel which I believe has something to do with a vacuum problem. I couldn't find the check valve near the engine, but I took off the one near the (brand new) IWE solenoid and I can blow through both ways. One way seems a bit easier than the other, but not much.
My question is, should I be able to blow through the one way at all??

Secondly I called up Lordco autoparts and once again they have no idea what a check valve is. Can I get this from Ford?

First Q:

Second Q: Check valves are one-way airflow. It sounds like yours is bad if any air goes through in the non-flow direction. Sometimes you have to educate the parts places...the check valves are usually on the rack with miscelaneous vacuum parts, like T and Y-fittings, caps, etc.

Thank you very much! I actually have spent days reading threads(inlcuding that great one you posted!) on IWE's, but just wanted to confirm the check valve problem so I don't go testing/stressing out for the rest of the weekend.

I am trying to drive the least amount possible, so dealing with the parts store over the phone(instead of driving there) is quite difficult lol. I also noticed they are starting to hire more females with large...uh, brains. I think this is so people can't get as mad at them.
