Check Gaude flash
Saturday I took my truck to my brother in laws shop to turn the front brake rotors. While we were at it, we went ahead and changed the serpentine belt also.
Now when I start the engine, it shows the temp and mileage like normal, but right after the engine starts it flashes "Check Guages" for a split second.
Has anyone else run into this? I was just wondering if maybe the "new", "tighter" belt was having some impact that will go away when it stretches.
By the way, 136,000 highway miles and the belt still looked new. Just figured I better change it before I have a problem.

doubt it is the belt doing it...you or your brother may have bumped something in the course of your work...double check the area's you two were working in for a loose or disconnected wire.
I certainly will next time I get a chance. The funny thing is, it will do it when I fist start the truck in the morning. After a 60 mile drive to work, I shut it off and take my keys. The wife then gets in and starts it without any "flash" at all. It got me wondering if it has always done it and I only just now noticed it.
