I was able to clean my oil pickup screen without dropping my pan the whole way... I took out all the bolts on the pan and dropped the brace by the back of the oil pan, (sorry I forget what it's called right now). then I was able to hold the pan sideways enough for my buddy to get his hand in and clean out the pieces. Also I used a special camera tht I borrowed from my mechanic to help me look around in there an make sure I got everything. Turns out there was was 8 pieces of a broken chain guide in there, some of the pieces up to an inch in size! Was glad I took the time to clean it!!

Default Tired Of It

Well after talking with three muffler shops they told me that the catalytic converter wasnt the issue and that I had another problem. They said I should take it somewhere else. Called a mechanic and he cant get me in until next Tuesday...So I guess I'm done trying to figure out the problem, dont really have the money to take it to my local Ford dealer since they told me it could end up being $450 for full diagnostics.....Oh well, I'm tired of losing sleep at night, last time I ever buy a used vehicle.

Default Not Good

Mechanic called and told me that he found the problem, said my cam phaser wasn't getting enough oil. His suggestion was a phaser lockout kit.. I asked what my oil pressure was at warm idle, he argued it didn't matter that the phasers weren't getting enough oil and that's why with even new phasers it idled rough and they wouldn't go back to normal position...

What's the chances of the lock out kit solving the rough idle? Kit is $700 with tuner and that's a lot of money....I don't have anymore money to take the truck anywhere else at this time for anymore diagnostics...

Please help
