Charging system light wont go off after alternator replacement
Ok,
Check charging system light started coming on Friday. I went to the auto parts store and had them check the alternator since my battery is only 5 months old. The alternator wasn't charging so I replaced it today. The light is still coming on and when you run the system test on the dash it says check charging system. When I took the old alternator core back I had them check the new one just to be sure that it wasn't bad too and it is charging fine. I put my battery charger on to make sure the batt wasn't just low on amps since it has been four days since the light came on so I'm waiting a few hours on that but I thought I would see if any of you had any thoughts?

My truck did this when I bought it. The used car dealer I bought it from installed a parts-store alternator that was charging (14+ volts), but the battery light wouldn't go out. I finally got it to turn off by installing a Motorcraft reman alternator. I guess some rebuilds aren't as good as others.

I had the same problem. As I found out, the plug in the back of it has like a small rubber gasket. Somehow as I was plugging it in, the gasket rolled a little and was blocking connection to one of the pins.
It's like an oblong "O" ring. Check that before you get too far.
