Charging Issue
So Friday night, the battery light kept coming on. Thought it was odd as I had just replaced it a couple of months ago and it seemed like when I pushed the gas over 1500 ROMs the light went out.
Checked my battery when I got home and it was reading 13.1 volts. A tad low but not bad. Figured it was a fluke but the stupid light kept coming on every time I slowed down. Checked the battery again, now 12.1 volts.
By Monday midday I had to rev it to 2800 rpm to get it to charge, got to the shop to replace it just in time.
Stock unit was rated at 130 amps tested at 13 amps.
Replacement was large case 6 G custom rebuilt and rated at 270 amps. At idle under load my new alternator was outputting 150 amps.
Extremely pleased. Its a Factory Ford Unit with proper voltage regulators so no issues with lights etc. Part was 320.00 and worth every penny considering all the accessories /huge system I have. No issues anymore.
If anyone is interested call John at B&W Auto Electric in Park ville, MD. Rebuilding and custom winding may be a lost art but these guys are the best around.
