The reason I made this thread is because I bought a 5 qt jug of castrol edge in 5w20 and two 1 qt bottles of the same.

Well as im pouring in the last 1qt bottle I notice it says 5w30 on it. I should have paid more attention. Im sure ill be fine right? lol just 1qt of 5w30 and 6qts of 5w20.

The shelf said 5w20 and the first bottle was 5w20. Always read the label!

 

It will be fine...I have done the same thing before...and I run a CAI without custom tunes...lol

Not looking for sympathy just mainly info but yeah, I felt like an idiot.

Mainly I was asking because I've read about mixing different brands could cause foaming or sludge because of different detergents.

Being same brand im sure im fine.

Ill buy more oil to save my motor but if I don't need to I won't.

 

Almost happened to me last week. You'd be fine even if it was all 7 quarts of 5w30.
