Default CEL after CAI install

I just installed a coil air intake and now my CEL in on. I read that someone just to unhook the battery for a while so the computer has to relearn the air/fuel ratio. Is this true? I did that a let it idle for a bit afterwards and no CEL. But is that good enouh or do I need a tune? I don't want to mess anything up. Help please.

Its all fine man! The engine is just temporarily confused with the greater amount of airflow. It will get used to it, and be fine. No need for worries.

Alright, thanks! I see you have the edge and the leveling kit. Is the edge worth it? And how hard is the leveling kit to install? I'm assuming it needs aligned afterwards.

I know I'm going off the thread subject but oh well

These trucks run lean from the factory...... adding a CAI makes it run even leaner......

It's not "fine" really..... especially if you drive like a teenager.. You need a tune if you want your truck to run..

That guy also has a paperweight....... aka throttle body spacer..

Any programmer is worth every penny, there's plenty of threads discussing the pros and cons of each.. I still like PHP- but they are backlogged bigtime right now- slow is a understatement....

Leveling kits... Yes it should be aligned- however, I've never had mine aligned- I just rotate my tires every oil change- haven't had any issues.

As far as installing it... It can be a PITA to get the upper ball joint out to allow you to drop down the hub assembly- other than that it can be done in the driveway with tools that most guys have in the garage.

Get it aligned after Nate, raising the front end of the truck causes the wheels to sit inwards, wearing the outer part of the tread very fast. I have the Edge Evo CS. Love every bit of it.

And to rollingthunder? Wth does my having a throttle body spacer have to do with any of this. I could insult your redneck cheesy straight pipe exhaust to. Grow up.

You gave false information....... Your paperwieght is relevant because it proves how much you really know about these engines...

It's proven FACT that these trucks run lean-

It's proven FACT that running a cai without a tune makes this condition worse....

I'm not going to sit on a msg board and argue with someone who argues fact- because obviously I wouldn't win.....

That would be a throttle body spacer man. A paperweight is actually heavier than a throttle body spacer. and whether it improves an engines performance or not. it mostly an opinion. There is a graph on another post here that shows an engine with a tbs and without. and believe it or not! the lines are not the same! making it FACT that tbs does something. minimal yes, but who knows, maybe i put it on for the sound change in the engine, not performance. Pretty childish to go slamming others intelligence of engines. Whether the engine is lean or not lean. I've never had a problem.

To the first question to Nate, its fine. Many people on this forum have a cai with no tuner and it has never caused any issue. Runs much nicer compared to stock air filter.

Ford corrected the Lean Issue in 07/08 models so not ALL these trucks run lean..
