CB antenna mounts, where to put them?
I'm majorly having an issue with how I'm going to be able to mount my CB antennas. I'm planning on mounting them in the front of the bed, but how do I go about trying to install them? Not sure how I'm going to even install them when the gap between the cab and the bed is so small on the 06 F150s... And as far as I see, there's absolutely no videos anywhere on how to mount them on the bed. I've seen plenty of the same generation F150 with the same mount I'm trying to accomplish here. But I just don't see how I'm going to be able to tighten the bolts down once the holes have been drilled. The gap is too small to fit anything and accurately install the back plate of the mount there.
Any suggestions?

Reeaaly helps when you have a toolbox. Or, you might consider something under the lip of the side rail at the front of the box, it will be rigid enough there too.

That's what I was thinking too, but it does save yourself a little bit of money on not getting a toolbox, I've always thought I'd get one, but never got around to it.

I decided to do it this way since I already had the tonneau cover. It was pretty simple. Bought two firestik's mounts but only wired up one of the antennas. I think I have around $250 in my whole system with the receiver, wiring, mounts, whips, and PA system in all. I can get you more pictures if you like this weekend.

That would actually help, thanks for some of the info though, I know for sure getting a toolbox makes the mounting install 10x easier, but being a college student paying bills, I don't have much of 300 dollars laying around to get a decent toolbox, but thanks again though man!

Yeah man, join the broke college kid band wagon. I feel your pain! I'll get some more pics for ya this weekend. I'm headed back home for winter break after my last final tomorrow morning. Though there are a lot of nice toolbox's on craigslist back home in the twin cities if you do want to go that route you can usually find one for a decent price.

I know where you're coming from too, I'm just finishing up studying for finals tomorrow. Anyway, like Jreimnitz150 said, check out craigslist. I came across the Kobalt one I've got now at a garage sale for $75. They are out there!
