Default Can i increase bed capacity?

So I've been looking around but cannot find the answer I'm looking for..

From everything i have found, my truck (04 F150 supercab 5.4V8) has a payload capacity of 1,700lbs. Is there any way i can increase this number by a couple hundred pounds? If so where should i look and how much of an increase can i get?

Please note I am looking to increase in-bed capacity for a slide in camper, NOT towing capacity.

air bag and add-a-leaf add confort and reduce suspension squat...but doesn't add legal capacities!

2000+ lbs are in F250 or 350 single wheel territory!

doing so with air bag and add-a-leaf and you can bend a diff, burn through wheel bearing, break axle and wheel stud, crack wheels, burst tire.

I highly doubt these things will happen.
He's just looking to add a few hundred pounds. Not thousands

Tire capacity is the first thing that will limit you once the suspension reaches the bump stops.

Not quite. My 2007 F150 with the Heavy Payload package has a payload of 2800lbs.... GVWR is 8200lb

Find the Payload sticker on the door... Says it exactly.

That's the very first problem I encountered. There's no payload sticker! Some dirty shirt removed it. I'm the 4th owner of this truck so figuring out what others have done has been a little difficult.

For example, I have a 7pin connector in the back which I assume goes to the female plug that is mounted under the steering wheel. Other than that I have no clue if I can just buy a controller, if so what brand would it be, or if I need to redo some wiring.

Mike,

You should be able to get what you need by using the Ford "VIN Decoder". It will tell you everything about your truck.
