ARE Z - was going with Leer until I found this one used in pristine condition. Had it painted. Compared to new ARE, I saved $1200. Don't let the Sunset paint in the sun fool you, it matches. This Sunset paint is weird. It looks red in some lights, orange in others. Parked under an amber street light and it looked grey! Like in this photo, it can look like different colors at once. Strange.....but I like it!

That turned out nice! I've got a ruby red 14, and a little hesitant about buying used and getting a good paint job, but this gives me hope. Wanted to get a tilt in slider window, so craigslist is slimmer pickins for a clean used.

for those who bought a new cap, were prices the same from different shops? Sort of down to a Leer or ARE (closest snugtop dealer is 9 hours away in st louis, and they won't ship direct). Are there any places in Pa/Ohio or thereabouts that are worth checking for a good deal on ARE/Leer or other good brand?

I think ARE is based in Ohio. Check their website for a dealer. I got a discount because it was "ordered from a dealer". The Auto Nation dealer actually recommended the ARE dealer.

Does anyone know the difference between the ARE Overland series and the ARE V series?
Other than the cool little stripe?
They look identical to me. But Price is about $400 more for the Overland

The Overland is reinforced with bedliner in places that tend to have a lot of stress. I wouldn't recommend it unless you do a lot of off roading. You could always paint or plasti dip your shell to look like the Overland for less than $400.

indeed.
I went and talked to the dealer yesterday. The window placement on the overland is a little offset, but not enough to justify spending the additional $400.
V series is the entry level and just didnt seem like a $1500 value after adding all the options.
I did price out a CX series with all the goodies - $1750 installed.
May order it this week.

I'm working with ARE now to get a new cap cause of defects... recommendation? --- inspect your cap 100% in bright light before they mount it on your truck. mine has 100's of tiny paint defects, amongst others issues. Had I of seen them I would have told them to keep it. I bought the Z series with pop out front window and LED light..2300 with tax
