The 4.6 doesn't have phasers. Are you planning on towing or carrying heavy loads?

I will not be towing so I am not worried about pulling power. I am mainly concerned about the reliability of the 5.4 compared to the 4.6.

4.2>4.6>5.4

Default yes go with the 4.6

unless you are hands on with the labor you can't afford the 5.4 , should be good for you .
