hello all! I'm a new member to this site. but read it lots and learn lots.
I have a 2004 fx4 with 5.4L and i bought my truck 2 years ago and it ticks like a deisel. super annoying. and i believe its not as powerful as it use to be? and ive read all about people fixing this problem and then the problem just comes back. I dont want to drop 1500 bucks on a problem that will return. Is there a specific type of phaser that can be put in? a non-ford manufactured one perhaps? basically what im asking is what do i do? live with it? does it hurt my engine in anyway to leave it?

 

Also a new member, I just bought an 05 King Ranch and it has the phaser knock. 120,000 miles so I don't know how long the knock was there. Dealer says phasers or sludge, probably phasers. Trying to decide when to fix it as well.

welcome aboard guys, i have an '05 i to had the cam phaser tick i came on here and found this read it there is only one way to fix the tick replace it all, wish you the best of luck
