cam phaser replacement
2006 f150 5.4 80000 miles. I want to get my cam phasers and the whole timing system replaced like the chain lash adjusters etc. Can somebody give me a list of all the parts I will need to do the job. The rattle noise between 800 and 1200 rpms is driving me crazy and getting louder. How much does a shop typically charge to do the whole job. My other question is is this a fix for this engine? With updated parts. Or will this rattle be back again?

I just successfully completed this project a couple of months ago and I can tell you that it made a great improvement in the power and feel of my 2004 5.4. Sounds great now. I bought all OEM parts from Ebay. The timing kit I bought had both phasers, tensioners, guides, tensioner arms, timing chains, crank sprocket and reluctor wheel for about $579. I also bought 24 new OEM lash adjusters and follows to replace those as well, good thing because I found that 13 of my lash adjusters were bad. I paid about $210 or so for those. I took a few days off of work so that I would not have to rush, couple hours here and there and everything worked out great. My advice, do the work yourself, really not that hard, just time consuming. Also, if you are going to do the work yourself, you should probably change out the VCT solenoids while you have it apart. Good luck and keep us posted. If you need any help, just let us know.

Here ya go buddy, if you are in it might as well do it all.. Save your money and do it yourself. Just mark the timing spots real good. Should be good for another 100-200k! If not then get the livernois kit if it bothers you that bad.
