Default Cam phaser lockouts

I have a 2007 STX special addition with the 5.4 3 v. I replaced the entire motor Jan 2018 and the replacement is already ticking. I've read more good than bad but can anyone shed some better light on which brand if they recommend doing it at all.

If its a new motor it should have a warranty. If its used you should have replaced those parts before installation.

This. Are you also sure it’s not an exhaust leak at the manifold?

It was a crate motor to be precise so as you known all the external parts where from the old. I replaced all the gaskets and the alternator, manifold runner control I believe it's called located at the back of the manifold. I did install a replacement muffler flo-master with a turndown and I have a cold air injection tru-flow and the votes throttle body intake gasket. I just had my emissions ran last month and it passed and they are pretty strict here in Atlanta, Ga. It's the same ticking noise my factory motor made almost from the day I bought it. This motor does have the upgraded oil pump melling I believe. I see no leaks and it isnt throwing any codes or showing signs of loss of power or bad gas milage.

Can you explain this "tick" a bit further? What manufacturer did you buy from for the replacement?

As you can tell, with your previous motor, these engines will exhibit a slight tick and that is perfectly normal.

As for the cam phaser lockouts..... nope, do not go past go, do not collect 200 dollars. These things are useless IMO and does nothing but screw you as the owner and I seriously doubt you'll get past the GA emissions after doing that to the truck. I understand your frustration.... I do, but give us a little more to go on and maybe we can help you out a bit.
