Cam Phaser Lockout Question
Late 2008 F-150 5.4L V8
I purchased a cam phaser lockout kit from Amazon:

I separately purchased two cam sprocket bolts Cloytes VBC-100, due to the reviews on the kit above people complaining that either the bolts in the kit didn't work or they broke off during installation 💀
I've seen YouTube videos of this procedure and I'm feeling confident in installing this phaser lockout kit but I do have a question about this if anyone has an answer for it...
I know the truck has to be tuned for this lockout to prevent a check engine light but If I don't tune right away will this cause engine damage?
Any other tips are welcome.

Hello I'm new to this form. I have a 5.4 3v 2007 Lincoln Mark LT. I recently replaced the head gaskets. I also installed a new timing chain kit with new guides and tensioners with a Melling M60HV oil pump. So I decided to go with new phasers while I had everything taken apart and installed the lockouts also. I have not installed the lockout tune yet. After I put everything back together the truck started and runs fine. The only problem I'm having is a light knocking noise when I fist start the truck up. It seems to go away after the engine warms up. I used the recommended oil for the 5.4 3v. I was wondering if anyone else has come across this problem or if anyone has any solutions that may help solve the problem such as using a thicker oil or is this something that I have to live with as the owner of a 5.4. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated thanks.
It normally goes away between 2 to 5 minutes after the truck has warmed up. But I definitely will go back and check the exhaust bolts. If that doesn't work I plan on trying a thicker oil.
