Default cam phaser lockout

Good Morning,
We have a F150 2007 and had the second set of new cam phasers, timing chain, guides and high volume oil pump installed ( has 254,000 km on it), just 10k km ago.
The missing and chugging started again after pulling my RV 20 km.
So, we have had the cam phaser lockouts installed.
The problem is, with the programing and first test drive, the pickup has no bottom end power.
They have opened it up to check all setting and all was ok.

I have had some fellows say that we need to put a tuner on it?
Do you have any suggestions on this problem and a fix?
Thanks for your time and help.
Ken

Most lockouts come with a program that will update the PCM.

That's odd that you've had multiple phaser problems with Ford parts. Usually they last much longer than that.

I’m not that shocked. If that engine is losing oil pressure either from a clogged oil pump pickup (was the oil pan and pickup screen ever cleaned?) or some valvetrain bleed off from already present wear, lockouts aren’t helping a thing.

I know lockouts were touted as this “cure all” across pretty much every F150 forum I’ve ever come across, but they never addressed the root causes of 3V Triton issues.

I used the lockouts and had a place in Sioux City Ia. program my ecu for $125 and runs great now. Are your tensioners leaking by and losing oil to the top end? I used tensioners from a 99 in my 05 and I have 230000 miles on it now. Runs as quiet as a new one and has power. Somebody had replaced all timing stuff but he put some plates behind the tensioners and they got no oil so there went my engine. Replaced it with a used one with 220000 miles with all new timing stuff and lockouts and runs great.
