A/C problems :(
So my truck is a 2006 Ford f150 with the 5.4, 108,000 miles
Ever since I bought it, the AC has been pretty crappy. I stay cooler with the window down and it's 90 outside than to put the AC on max setting.
So i decided to buy one of those recharge kits today, $35 later.. nothing
I bought the one with the guage, it says the pressure should be between 45-50. I hook it up, it says 45, but quickly started dropping, so i start adding, recheck after using like 75% of the can, and then it read 35 psi! WTF? The AC didn't improve what so ever afterwards.
I followed all the instructions, and yes the clutch is engaging on the compressor, although it takes a moment if the truck was just started. The upper high pressure metal house will burn you if you touch it, is that normal? The lower one I added refrigerant too, Isn't hot or cold.
I'm not usually one to complain, I'm 6 3 and 185 pounds, so im not hard to keep cool, with the A/C on max my lower back will sweat in 10 minutes.
My brother has a 2000 F150 pushing 200k and the AC has never been touched, and on max, it will freeze you out of the truck. It has no problems keeping the truck cold. Some people will tell me E-fans would help, but i don't understang how a 12 year old AC is way better than a 6 year old AC, both using stock mechanical fans.
So I think I'm going to take it into a shop, because I'm out of ideas, and want to let a pro handle it. Thanks for reading the post, any ideas?
