A/C not what it should be,
I have a 04 XLT 2wd scab 4.6L. With just 27K. The A/C works, but it never gets as cool as my other vehicles. Is this just the design of the A/C's in F150'S? Or is there something I can do. I checked the charge, and it seems fine, Compressor works as it should, but the temp. of the air is just not cool enough for me. On my next days off I will check the fan clutch, and place a therm. in the vent to get a reading. Anyone else with this same issue? Thanks.

Its a Ford F150 issue. My 08 would only do 40 at the center left vent, took to a shop and the guy was amazed I was getting that. My 13 is horribly worse. Pretty much not usable during summer months here in Houston. Only way to be 100% on charge, is to evacuate and recharge with correct amount. AT that age you could have some failing parts, just a guess.

Having similar problem on 05
There is the foam duct problem but I have cut into the unit plastic housing behind glove box and duct plate seems to be working . I don't know if there is another one behind radio ,I saw one video where there was one behind radio . Mine doesn't cool good when its in the 90's here in fl .
I am thinking it may be the orifice tube getting clogged and not getting a good spray into evaporator , of course that will cause the dryer to be changed .
I may take it in to be looked at soon .
It is 12 years old so its been good .

I'm also thinking about placing a shut off valve in the heater hose. I've read that that helps also. Worst case is that it doesn't and I can always take it back off.

Ok, I have read that there are NO SHUT OFF VALVES on our F150's. I believe this is the main issue why we can't get our trucks A/C cool enough. I read that theres a thin "plastic" door that seperates the heater core from A/C side. So if the heater core is constantly hot (water flowing through it as motor is running) then it is keeping the cab warm. By inserting a cut off valve, you should in theory STOP the hot motor coolent from entering the heater. Also by doing this the heater core will not warm up the A/C cooler air as it passes near it. As I said before, I will do this on my next days off, and will get back if it works. I'll get temps from vent before and after, idling and cruising.

My AC was never real good. I recently had my timing done so the AC system was drained and then fully refilled. The first two times it tried to use it after the timing job it was warm not even cool. I tried it again last weekend and it froze me out. Don't know why it didn't work the first two times but I sure hope it keeps working like it did last weekend!

The only time my A/C sucks is when I'm sitting still and that's just because of the lack of air movement around the appropriate parts (one reason to go to an E-Fan). But it's still cold, just not AS cold when idling.
