Default Buying a rebuilt engine online

I am pricing out used vs new; ford vs private company and I was curious if anyone has used an online company similar to these guys? http://www.powertraindirect.com/

They quoted a really decent price and comes with a 3yr no mileage warranty, seems like a no brainer compared to a junk yard motor around the same price. Just looking for thoughts or experience.

I seem to recall a recent thread:

Should have some relevant information.

Lots of information on this topic already. But to recap, Ford typically offers the best deal because you can get it serviced anywhere and they are built by the manufacturer to OEM specs. The others, Jasper, Powertrain Direct, Autozone, etc. are aftermarket and may leave you hanging if something goes wrong.

Default Stay away from remanufactured engines

I bought a reman. engine from Powertrain. I will not go into all the hassle i went thru. Basically it comes down to this. If you don't buy local even small claims is no good. If the engine has problems it will always end up your primary responsibility getting everything done. Trust me not worth it. Find out locally who is good. Be it dealership, garage or whatever. BBB usually has listed all claims against a company. Do the work first and save the 4 grand powertrain got me for.

That sounds like a great price for the engine. My plan is to spend 1/3 of that on just timing parts for my engine that just makes a slight noise sometime.
