Default Buying an 04?

I'm looking at a 2004 F-150 Supercab Xl, just to have as a work truck. It's an automatic V8 with 92,000 miles on it with the 4.6L engine. I was wondering if there's anything I should look out for if I go to see/drive it and if it's a good deal. The asking price is $6000.

One thing I would definitely check (may or not be important to you) is the gearing of the diffs. There are 3.55 and 3.73 diff gears and rare 4.10s. This will be stamped on the differential, or as an axle code on the door sticker.

18 - 3.08 Open
27 - 3.31 Open
19 - 3.55 Open
H9 - 3.55 Limited Slip
26 - 3.73 Open
B6 - 3.73 Limited Slip
25 - 4.10 Open
B5 - 4.10 Limited Slip

Most trucks have the 3.73. The higher the gear the better your torque so if your going to be towing or 4x4ing your going to want the 3.73 not the 3.55.

Just one of those things that you wouldn't want to find out later.

Thats cheap. Im assuming 2wd for that price.

From what Ive seen more trucks have the 3.55's than 3.73's. Ive got 3.55's in my '06.
