You can have them chromed find a local shop not overly expensive and you would have a unique piece.
As far as bull bar vs brush guard... They serve a drastically different role.
Bull bars are lighter weight and more cosmetic or for mounting off road lighting and more times than not replace tow hooks.
Brush guards are more function such as front end protection forward receiver hitch and or winch mounting. Some take factory tow hooks some don't. An like bull bars can be good to mount off road lights. Also modular brush guards can be configured as a push bumper etc.
One last option if the intent is cosmetic and or off road lighting would be a light bar such as smittybilt.
Im a believer in a truck when modified being purpose built so my personal opinion is if I am going to put anything on front of my truck it has to serve an intended function my truck currently cant even beyond mounting lights or looking good (i think all options i mention look good on the right truck) and thus I'd go with a brush guard or full replacement depending how aggressive a function I require, winch, shackle points, receiver and or improved tire clearance, unimpeded suspension travel and suspension angles.

Here's mine. Aries bull bar with 2 x Hella 500 Black Magics.
Downside - No tow hooks, especially for someone like me who tends to venture into some pretty slick GA clay mud holes.

Has anyone bought the hidden mounting kit from Warn? If so are you still able to install a bull bar?
If I could do that I would t mind losing the hooks.
