Default Brakes

The past few few days the truck has developed a grinding noise when braking then today there has been a slight shudder/shaking when I am almost to a complete stop .... Any ideas

One or more brake pads/shoes is worn down to the metal. sounds like its to late to save your roters or drums

This ^^ I would have already at least pulled the wheels off and inspected the brakes.

No kiddin'!

Side note.........I recommend going with expensive pads/rotors. I went with the cheapest stuff Advance sells, the Wearever Silver's...........and my truck doesn't brake anywhere near as well as it used to.

Thanks for the input I stopped by a friends auto shop and checked it out ...back side pads are completely gone and the rotors aren't too far behind... Just had the oil changed at the dealership two weeks ago and with their 50 point inspection or what ever they call it they said the brakes were good I am definitely going to have a word with them

Yet another argument for changing the oil yourself.

I agree with one of the posters above. Don't get the autozone cheap rotors and pads, you'll be back doing the pads and rotors again soon. I finally broke down and bought raybestos pads and rotors for the front and they're stopping and wearing nicely.

Go OEM or brembo rotors if you want to stick with stock rotors. If you want drilled and slotted just pic a good brand.

And EBC pads have always stopped the best for me and they are reasonably priced.
