Brake pad replacement
Looking at a 2007 FX4 to buy. New tires, but when I asked about brakes remaining they said 10mm on rear and 3mm on front. I said they should be replaced, the dealer said they were within the safe range according to their safety inspection of the vehicle. Who's right??
Thanks, still considering. Have you had any rust problems? This '07 FX4 has pitting and rust on front bumper, a little rust on rear bumper, and some surface rust at rear of bed floor where bed liner has rubbed. It's a helluva truck though, loaded with options, new 20" tires and comes with a lifetime powertrain warranty. 84,000 miles. I'm debating between this '07 FX4 and '08 STX with the 4.6L with about the same miles and same price. '08 has powertrain warranty to 100,000 miles. Both extended cab 4x4's. Which way should I go?
Fx4 for sure
i front bumper has rust on it from all the stone chips and a rub from previous owner, i just noticed my cab corner drivers side is starting to show a little bit, and i keep repainting the area around my gas cap door with a factory colour match paint repair from the dealer, other than that nothing, and i have seen newer trucks with holes in the fenders already. Also i have never had it undercoated or anything in the 4 years i have owned it. Love the truck and will be keeping for a long time

Not sure if you need rotors also, but I have really had great results from the brakemotive drilled/slotted rotors and pads off ebay. $230 for all for corners, can't beat it. Make sure to follow the directions to burnish them in after you install.
