Default Brake Light Switch

Just got this 07 4wd last week. Wife followed me home and said i didnt have brake lights, but have turns. I checked the F6 fuse and it was good, pushed all fuses and messed with the switch on the pedal. Had brake lights. Today i go to town, and no brake lights again. I can move the switch up and the brake lights will come on, and go out as soon as i let go. This last time i did it, it was hard to get out of park at first. Is this a bad switch or something loose or what? Also, PO had a fifth wheel set up, would this have anything to do with the fifth wheel brake plug in the bed?

Thanks, there a few little things wrong but this is priority.

I replaced mine in my 04 about a year ago, had to push really hard to get the lights to come on, and with my year the neutral safety switch is built into the brake light switch, $60 Canadian at local ford dealer and problem was solved, hope this helps

Check few things b4 you attempt to change the Brake switch. At any garage the guy can check the Boo signal at the switch and confirm if that switch is bad. This switch is related with the Shift interlock switch(solenoid) on the center shifter. A white tab on the side of that switch goes down when you press on the brake letting you to shift from park. You can manually push that tab as well if you get struck. You have to open the driver side panel on shifter to access it. I wonder if your cruise is working.?

cuz its related as well. Do a search for `shift interlock` and see if your problem related to those.

I've replaced the brake switch before. The design of it is pretty straight forward on replacement but getting to it can be a major PITA. Fixed my problem of no brake lights though.

Alright, the shifter only happened that once, and yes i have cruise. When the brakes dont work, neither does the hazards. BUT i can reach under there, unplug the switch, and plug it back in and then ill have brakes again. Gonna try a switch today.
