Default Brake controller

Can I use the newer style brake controllers you see in the 2009 and up models in a 2004? I am changing up the dash, and would like to build the brake controller right into the dash like you see in the newer models, but don't want to waste my time if it will not work.

Any help is appreciated.

Changing the dash alone won’t cut it. You’d need to change every single piece of electronics that ties into the brake controller as well. These integrated systems talk to the ABS and Lord knows what else.

TL;DR Just find an aftermarket unit.

ok..thanks that was what I was looking for. I just like the look of them built into the dash, instead of attached under the steering wheel. I have an aftermarket one, and wanted to change to the look of the built in ones.

I installed one in my '05 not long ago, and also wanted a sleeker "built in" look, rather than the "knee knocker" under the dash. I went with this. Haven't had much use yet, but install was a breeze, and several mounting options. Redarc Brake Controller
