Default bought truck need help!

I bought a 2004 F150 recently and knew it needed work. I got it for $3,700 and was expecting to pay some for it to get fixed. What the problem is, is that when it is cool it runs fine but when it warms up it starts to run bad and chugs almost. we took it to one guy and he said the engine was sludged up and needed a whole new motor. but another mechanic said that yes it could have sludge but with 175k miles it should not need a new motor. He checked it out and said the codes lead to needing new cam phasers. we were told it could be a cam sensor, oil pressure sensor and now, cam phasers.
My question is that if we replace the cam phasers, how much could it be? also if i could get a motor with 70k miles on it for $1500 and have it put in for $1000 would it be a good decision?
Or should we flush out the engine... try that... then see what happens..
Help!!!

Moved to 04'-08' section.

1/3 through intake, 1/3 in oil, 1/3 in gas.

What are the code #'s?

Thanks for the replies! We took a qt of oil out of it yesterday and put a bottle of Marvel Mystery Oil in it. From there we will change the oil a couple times and put more mystery oil in it. I hope it cleans out the sludge and maybe the sensors can stop acting up. if not, we'll try something else!!

Also, I'm not sure of the codes exactly but he said they all lead to the cam phasers as being the problem.

Doesn't do anything for the intake or injectors.

This spray application is great for the intake/ See Vid in Link:http://www.seafoamsales.com/sea-foam-spray/
