Bilstein 5100 Front Strut Failure
So i have a 2006 F150 single cab 2wd. About 6 months ago i had some Ride height adjustable 5100 struts and 5100 rear shocks installed to level out the truck and it was just time for new shocks at 130k. Was driving down the freeweay the other day going about 70 and i hit a dip/bump that normally the truck rides smoothly over, and when i hit it my steering jerked and the truck Shook and shimmied all over the road, it felt very sketchy. Also heard a really wierd clunk. So i inspected my suspension when i stopped, and my passenger front strut is leaking oil and the top cap around the oil seal literally came off. The spring seat clip is still on and everything else looks normal, I think this shock just flat out failed. Just wanted to share this see if anybody else has had this happen before, im going to call bilstein on Monday morning to see weather they will warranty it or not. Crazy right???
