Default Bigger tire/ gears/ transmission ?s

I just put on 275/70/R18 toyo m/ts so i think there like 33.4 inch tires. My question is do I need to redo the gears or mess with the gearsat all since I put on bigger tires? Ever since I put on the bigger tires it seems that my second gear is shifting harder and when I really stomp on it first gear shifts and then when it hits second gear it boggs down real quick then back up again. Any advice or answers would be much apprichiated. Also would a programmer take care of these issues? And yes that might be me looking for an excusse to buy a programmer lol

most people don't change out the gears until they get to 37's but some do at 35's. for 33's no i wouldn't change the gears unless money is not a problem. a programmer, once you correct your speedometer for your larger tires should help fix the shifting problems i think.

+1.. that isn't enough size change to mess with gearing. You can recalibrate your speedo with a tuner and a handheld GPS. Most will also allow you to tune your shift points, but even that probably won't be necessary once you tune the engine.

So how do I go about retuning my speedometer or does the programmer do that for me ?

the programmer will have a option for tire size, you put it in and it recalibrates the speedo for you
