Smile Better mpg mods?

Just purchased a 04 f150 what are some things I can do to increase the mpg. Already thinking about puting a k&n air filter in it. Thanks Nick

Max air pressure in the tires, clean the maf with maf cleaner, clean the fuel system with a techtron gas additive, run name brand gas.
Maybe a gotts mod (under $10) to go with the filter.
The earlier mods are what i would do first. Good luck, don't be discouraged if
you don't see more than 1/2 to 1 mpg increase with the basic mods. Thats what I got with the basics and my '08 now has 14K on it.
These 5000 lb trucks don't get crazy high gas mileage because of the weight.

Some will say tuners, but you can't calculate mileage from the tuner, you have to do it with the mileage/gallons, and for the price of one you can buy a lot of gas.

In addition to those '08f150stx suggested ...
  • PROPER tire pressure.
  • wheel alignment. *Only possible -IF- the suspension components are within spec'.
  • religiously performed routine maintenance ...
    • fuel filter.
    • air filter. *Do NOT recommend K&N or any other clean/oil air filter due to MAF sensor contamination.
    • oil change.
    • dif' fluid change.
    • lub' any suspension / driveline grease fittings.
    • etc., etc., etc..
  • keep the truck washed and waxed/polished.
  • remove any unnecessary junk from the box and cabin.
  • O/D -ON- unless towing.
  • anticipate stops ... coast.
  • easy-on / easy-off the gas pedal.
  • avoid any unnecessary idling.
  • etc., etc., etc. ... common sense stuff actually.

I guess all my receipts from a ridiculous amount of bills that I always seem to owe is weighing my truck down haha.
