The bed on my 2006 rattles when going over heavy bumps. I don't remember it starting until about a year and a half ago and I think it's getting worse, but it doesn't seem to be loose when loading things in it. Is this normal?

Mine does the same thing.... I never noticed it when I test-drove the truck but noticed it quite quickly after that. I thought some of the bed bolts were loose as it looks like the one corner jumps up around 3" sometimes haha. Anyways, it is common. It can be a lot of things too. I attribute it to a combination of bed flex, bad shocks, and mirrors wobbling making the shake look even larger.

I know Ford makes some sort of dampener but I haven't researched it much. I have just grown used to it I guess.

I don't mind it. I first noticed it when I moved to ohio about two years ago. I didn't notice it when I lived in Texas, but then again the roads there are a lot nicer. The roads here get ruined by salt and snowplows. I'm almost certain the bed isn't loose, so I'm not too worried. It just seems like the rattling has been getting louder, but it could be due to the roads getting worse. Haha.

Ya I usually notice it when I hit a manhole cover that is a little out of wack... It's strange. Sometimes I will hit a big bump and it won't rattle anything. Then other times I hit a small bump that will make the bed look like it jumps off. It's some sort of harmonic that goes through the truck I guess when you hit the right bump. It worried me at first but not anymore. I've read that the Tundras are the worst for bed shake.

Ok that makes me feel better that I'm not the only one. Haha

Check all bed bolts and if your bed is squeaking, grease the tailgate hinges.
