Default Is the battery gauge variable?

2008 F150 XLT Lariat. I am wondering if my battery gauge is telling me the truth. It seems to be forever at a comfortable reading between 2/3 and 3/4. When the key is on but the engine is not running it does not move when I turn the headlights on or off. I only recently learned that my oil pressure gauge is actually a binary on/off display so I am wondering if any of the gauges can be trusted. I tried searching but was unable to find an answer in earlier posts. I am sorry if this has been addressed before and I should have found the answer.

Thanks,
Robin

I don’t recall the answer to your question about factory gauge, sorry.

but you might consider getting an edge evolution tuner. It gets you 4 real time gauges (you select what to monitor). I select battery as one of my gauges. you can always easily tell condition of battery and alternator. Able to spot an issue with batt or alt, long before it becomes serious issue.

They’re all fake.

How do you tell? Easy. They’re not numbered. Not sure what values swing the others to H or L as it’s the oil pressure gauge that gets the most air time here.

Even the fuel gauge is such. At the empty mark, you still have about four gallons left as it gets you to the pump sooner.
