I have a 2004 F150 with the 5.4 3v and an automatic. Had a problem for a few years where it would shift up to od in less than 100ft unless you stomped on gas. It does not downshift when slowing down. I needed a rear seal and I was on my way to garage I lost od yesterday. Garage told me Tranny was gone. So I am getting a rebuilt one. Would this take care of both problems?

 

Not sure on the answer but I can say, at somewhere around 80k on my 04 F150 4.6, I lost overdrive. It was only a ring that broke and fell in pan, $300 approx. fix.
A year later whole transmission went out except 1st gear. Full rebuild. Well over $2000.
Everything seems alright with it so far, at 124k miles.
Recently got an edge (Gryphon) programmer and it shifts like a champ now.
