Default Bad misfire, multiple codes.

Hello all, I'm a newbie never been on any kind of forum before so excuse me if I do something wrong. Anyway, after doing a lot of shopping around I found a steal on an 04 with only 126k on the clock. Like the topic said, I have a horrible missfire but all codes point to only the left bank. It has true duals on it and I can feel the difference in exhaust between the separate tail pipes. Manifolds and cats are all getting hot so I know its somewhat firing.

It will idle and rev fine in park or neutral, but put any type of load on it and it will fall on its face.

Now here's the kicker. P.O. put a k&n cai on at around 90k miles. He says the cel never came on till 3 years after install but who knows.

My question is has anyone ever seen a 3v 5.4 run lean for long/hard enough to actually cause major damage? I get no smoke at all and it will run. I got 8 new plugs and coil packs, as well as all new motorcraft o2 sensors ordered. I also have the factory breather to go back on it.

Hopefully I can get my hands dirty and find out what's going on this weekend, but would like to hear others opinions.

Thanks in advance.

Read up on the threads on the issues with spark plugs on these things. Have Lisle extractor tool available. . use pb blaster and let it soak in for a while. . maybe run some seafoam through the fuel, but since its really bad I probably wouldn't run it long enough to do any good. . . . . . Since its throwing codes the miss is really bad. . . I wouldn't driving it till the misfire is fixed as you will be damaging the cats. The Ford Threshold on misses is really high it won't throw a CEL without a major misfire issue.

I don't know if its true or not but I had a mechanic tell me that ford has changed its policy on plugs and now recommends using an impact to remove them rather than by hand. . . Might check on that. . . He said that he hadn't twisted one off since he went to using an impact. . .

One thing for sure is you are in for an interesting time changing them.

It wouldn't hurt to do a compression test on all of the cylinders.

Well the plugs were not a big deal, changed all 8 and all 8 cops. Came to the conclusion that the front cat on the left bank is 100% clogged. Got a new universal replacement on the way! Cant wait to get this thing goin.
