It does it the most when I have overdrive on but it's gotten pretty bad with it off too.
And 'coil packs' are the _ONLY_ thing under the hood that will cause misfires? Right?

What about plugs, boots, boot spring corrosion, broken connector snap, poor electrical connection, carbon arc tracks, antifreeze in plug well, excessive carbon build up in extended plug space, fuel air mixture, fuel pressure, injectors ---- and on and on and on until we fill a book. Get yourself a different mechanic.

So.. just new plugs 4 years ago... I would pull the plugs and at least look at them and go with some new boots and springs.. clean the Coil contacts and go from there.

I've taken it to 2 other mechanics and they all say coil packs. Look. I'm no master mechanical wizard here. I'm just going by what I was told. If anything I'll just take it to Ford and go bankrupt from them as a last resort. I do know that around the coil packs at the base of them is a lot of dirt and shmew. My uncle and cousin took the poor truck mudding a lot. I'm not doubting your judgment one bit.

My truck did kind of cut out this morning after it sat all night. Instead of slowly coming down from a little over 1,000 rpms it revved up, choked a little, then went straight down to 750 rpm

yeah I understand that. I don't know what's wrong with it. I know it could be a whole slew of things. Y'all figure I should just take it to Ford for their opinion?

yeah I'm gonna look around and see where I can take it. There aren't a whole lot of mechanics around my area. Other than like maxi auto and things of that nature. And the dealerships of course

I’d say you should remove every coil and clean out all the crap from the cylinder wells causing them to short. Boots and springs if anything. All new plugs too; who cares if they’re only 4 years old if they’re sitting in water and mud, their porcelain’s probably cracked.

yeah me and my grandad was just talking about that. I'll probably tear into it this weekend and clean out all the Shmoo. Hopefully that fixes it. But if not I'll just go from there.

I just got home from going out with family and the truck ran fine the whole time. Didn't jerk or anything. I could hear it miss ever so slightly in the exhaust cause the exhaust wouldnt have that solid tone to it. But. I'm hoping cleaning all the Shmoo out will fix it. Or at least be a part of fixing it. My grandad said it may clear itself out over time but it's slowly been getting worse so I doubt it.
