Question Bad bearing

I have a 2006 F-150 4x4 45,000 miles. A few months ago the truck developed a whine, I thought it was the tires and now I don't think it is the tires. My guess is there is a bearing going bad. The noise is definitely coming from the back. There is also loud whine that shows up intermittently and it only last for a few seconds. I want to get this fixed before I pull a trailer for 5000 miles this summer. Any help is appreciated.

My 05 had the same problem. It just turned out to be a plain old wheel bearing in the back. No big deal. Mechanic replaced it for cheap. The other intermittent sound could be from a vacuum leak associated with the 4wd system. Many posts have covered those issues.
