Default Bad ABS pump?

05, 2wd, 4wabs, screw,

ABS light came on, and code reader said R/F sensor. So, I replaced it with a new one (Motor Craft). That didn't fix it after replacing and clearing codes light is on says same thing. So, I'm checking the tone ring today.
What should the gap be between the sensor and the ring be?

Now the bigger problem.
At random when pushing the brake pedal you feel the pedal fighting back. It doesn't just get hard. It get sort of a mechanical creaking, push back. The pedal doesn't sink to the floor, and it stops fine. No wheels are locking up.

I did run an auto-bleed from my scan tool. The front 2 wheels bleed fine, accept for the creaking pedal. The R/R will get almost done with the bleed process, and will get fluid out. But, then the scan tool says it lost communication, but it keeps activating the pump for several more seconds. I tried this 3 times with the same results.

Now running an inlet/ outlet test through the scan tool.
On the L/F, R/F, and L/R I get a clicking noise from the pump (I think it was on the outlet test). On the R/R there is no clicking noise.

There is not a light coming on, or codes for the ABS pump or Module. The light was on for the sensor before the pedal started it's thing. Just trying to avoid spending time and money at the dealer.

I may have it fixed. Tone ring was out of spec, and cleaned the plug into the module (no corrosion found), but added dielectric grease to the pins. Drove around the neighborhood for a minute. Usually only takes to the end of the driveway for it to act up. Maybe fixed.🤞

My thoughts: any cleaning on sensor is a waste of time, as debris doesn't effect the creation of an electro magnetic current. However, an out of spec reluctor ring, or one full of ferrous debris, won't induce the appropriate signal. But, it seems you've already gotten there. I'd only add to further ensue the mating between the sensor and the hub is clean and clear or you'll have the wrong air gap.

be careful how you are using the dielectric grease... it is a non conducive grease.. made to seal moisture out of connections not for better continuity on pins of a male plug.

The sensor is new no debris on it. The tone ring was out of spec but good now. Weird thing is that the abs light didn't come on for a couple months after the new rotors. The cleaning I did was on the plug in to the abs module not the sensor.

Drove it to work this morning without issue.
