Backup camera wiring
Just finished installing my new back up camera on my 06 F150 XLT and I'm hooking it up to my Edge CTS, but now I don't know where to get power for it but only when my truck is in reverse! I can find constant 12V easily (what would happen if the camera always had power??) But as far as only getting power when it's in reverse, is my issue.
Please let me know if you can help! |
No expert but I think you wire it to the back up lights

I wired mine to my reverse lights.

This reverse light power lead can be located in any one of the taillight housings; wire the power lead of the backup camera to the black with pink stripe wire at the bulb housing (black is ground at the bulb housing).
If the edge CTS also needs a "trigger" to indicate reverse is on, this same color wire (black with pink stripe) can also be located in the drivers side door sill channel; pull off the plastic door sill and splice into this wire. |
^the man !

The CTS gets it's 'trigger' from the transmission signal I believe.
My cam is wired to the reverse lights. |
